IMPORTANT EARLY MAINE MERGANSER DECOY.
What a stellar treat it was to find this beautiful decoy fresh out
of a collection in Massachusetts. It has the best form, the best dry
ORIGINAL painted surface and the best condition. What it lacks are
repairs, problems and a maker's name. This will truly be a top shelf
addition to any advanced collection. Late 19th or very early 20th
century. Size, 17 inches long. $3250. |

19TH CENTURY PORTRAIT MINIATURE BY RUFUS
PORTER, 1792-1884. This is a wonderful example of Porter's hand
complete in it's original frame and glass. Identified on the back in
modern hand as Stevens Hayward Turner, age 21, 1816-1884. Some
slight color distortion, but nothing serious. Size, 4.25 x 5 inches
overall.
$2950. |

|
19TH CENTURY REDWARE JAR WITH LARGE BOLD
SPLOTCHY DECORATION. Aside from its form and great decoration,
you're really going to appreciate its condition. NO CRACKS, CHIPS OR
HAIR LINES. It's just about as perfect as you could hope for. Size,
8 inches tall, 6 inches in diameter. I believe it's from
Pennsylvania.

REVERSE PAINTED OPTICAL TRADE SIGN.
Dramatic reverse painted eye that was used by an optometrist as a
trade sign. Excellent condition. Professionally reframed in a simple
black surrounding frame. About 1920. Size, 14 x 10.

|
|

|
LARGE EYEGLASS FRAMES. Made from heavy
gauge metal stock, these were used as trade signs. It would be neat
to say they came from the doctor as the painted eye above, but
really they came to me out of happenstance. Any way you look at
them, they're cool and they measure 9 inches wide with 9.5 side
pieces. About 1930.
$395. |
|
|

|
LARGE CAST IRON BLACK SAILOR ANDIRON.
As you must know, I like andirons in pairs, but this wonderful
single came to me and I couldn't resist. The paint is outstanding
and I had it custom mounted on a metal stand so it could do just
that: Stand up. A wonderfully decorative and fun piece. Size, 18.5
tall, 14 inches wide on the stand. Late 19th century.
$1150. |
|
|

|
BOLD AND GUTSY PAIR OF CAST IRON BULLDOG
ANDIRONS. This is the first pair of these I've owned and I think
they'd be irresistible to any bulldog lover. Exceptionally nice
details with great surface and form. About 1920. Size, 15.5 inches
tall with log dogs that extend 20 inches.
$1450. |
|
|

|
RARE CAST IRON OWL ANDIRONS WITH HUGE GLASS
EYES. This form is the largest of the owl andirons measuring
nearly 21 inches tall. They're signed Howes and from what I can
tell, were hardly ever used. The're clean and about as mint as they
come. The log dogs extend 20 inches. Ca. 1920.
$1650. |
|
|

|
CAST IRON BASS ANDIRONS. I've owned
several of these over the years and they always seem to find a home
before too long. Great for the camp, sportsman and fisherman. They
measure 12 inches tall with 14 inch log dogs. Ca. 1930. Excellent
condition.
$795. |

|
LARGE BOLD AND DRAMATIC CARVED, PAINTED
AND GILTED EAGLE. For the patriotic lovers, this eagle has to
catch your eye. Where ever you choose to show it off in your home,
it will command and attract attention. There are some old repairs to
the wings, but the areas of concern are stable and intact.. The
surface is well oxidized which shows off its age well. About 1900.
Size. 47 x 28.
$2850. |

|
SINGLE SIDED WHEEL OF CHANCE. If you
like your game wheels crispy, vibrant and clean, you won't find a
better one anywhere. The stamp on the back reads St. Louis Carnival
Supply. It measures 20 inches in diameter and comes with a wall
mount for easy display. One of the best wheels I've owned. Ca. 1930.

modern shadow box frame for enjoyment in the years to come. Done in
the 1920s. Size, 17 x11.

|
LARGE NEW ENGLAND TIN AND GLASS ONION
LANTERN WITH WHALE OIL BURNER. The three lanterns I'm offering
this month were all recently purchased as a group. They are all in
excellent condition with no concerns to the glass or tin areas. This
one, with a squatty glass globe, is especially nice and hard to come
by. Ca. 1840. Size, 14.5 inches tall with a large 7 inch globe.

SENSATIONAL FOLK ART CARVED SEAGULL WITH
SPREAD WINGS. I was attracted to the carving the second I saw it
and liked it not only for its simple lines but great painted surface
as well. Creatively mounted on an old lobster trap float which adds
appeal to those with coastal homes or cottages. If you don't have a
coastal home and just like seagulls, you can buy it as well. It
stands 25 inches tall with a 17 inch wing span. Carved in the 1940s.
Ex. Shirley Chambers.
$1250. |

|
SMALL HUMMER WIND MILL WEIGHT IN GREEN
PAINTED SURFACE. This form has always been a popular item in the
kitchen. Though made from cast iron, it's not very heavy and works
perfectly on shelves or small cupboards. Made by the Elgin Wind and
Power Co. Elgin, Illinois from the late 19th century through the
1920s. Size, 10.25 inches wide, 10 inches tall on it's base.

|
THREE CHARMING 19TH CENTURY DEAD EYES ON
STANDS. These smaller, almost human like versions were used in
the standing rigging of smaller size sailboats. Each still has it's
hand wrought ring which surrounds the wooden center allowing for
attachment. I've owned several larger examples but never any this
small before.
$895. for the group. |

LARGE, FREE BLOWN CLEAR GLASS LEECH BOWL.
Bowls of this quality and clearness are really getting harder and
harder to find. I'm dating this one about 1830, maybe slightly later
and it remains in perfect condition. Size, 13.5 inches tall with a
10 inch bowl.

|

|
CAST IRON SQUIRREL DOOR STOP. Red
painted squirrel sitting on a log enjoying a nut. At first I though
this was of Bradley and Hubbard Manufacturer but it lacks the fine
casting detail B & H stops have. My guess is its a similar form made
by a competitive foundry. Size, 10 inches wide and 11.25 inches
tall. About 1920.
$495. |
|
|

|

|

|
19TH CENTURY FREE BLOWN AMBER FLASK.

applied handles. This one was made, as you see it, without a handle.
Excellent condition with lots of wear right where you expect it to
be. Size, 7.25 inches tall, 5.5 inches wide.
$225. |
|
|

|
PAIR OF TURNED FINIALS. These urn shaped finials
were once part of a fence from an estate in Nobleboro, Maine.
Each measures 17.5 inches tall with 9 inch diameter bowls.
Wonderfully decorative both inside and out.
$695. |
|
|

|
VERY LARGE 19TH CENTURY BRASS DOOR LOCK. As
impressive as the lock is, I can only imagine what the door must
have looked like it came from. The key is for decorative purposes
only and does not work. I think the acorn latch knob is pretty
snappy as well. Size, 22 inches long.
$1250. |
