Very scarce smaller size rooster weathervane
by The J. Howard Co., active 1850-1868, West Bridgewater,
Massachusetts. Composed of a hollow cast zinc body with a cut and
formed copper tail and feet. Excellent overall condition with a fine
and natural color and surface. Howard made rooster weathervanes in
two sizes, this being the smaller, more elusive, version.
Dimensions: 14.5" tall, 12" wide and about 3.5' inches thick. The
Howard Co. was one of the country's earliest manufacturers of
weathervanes in New England and are highly sought after and prized
by collectors. In 1868 the company changed its name to The Washburn
Company which continued making vanes well into the 20th century.

19th century hand carved and painted Odd Fellows Heart in Hand
symbol. Of all the symbols used in Odd Fellow lodges, this form is
my all time favorite. While they did offer this form with painted
hearts, the heart on this example is relief carved which adds to its
appeal and desirability. Size: Mounted on a modern wooden base, it
measures 13'' tall and remains in splendid condition. Inventory
number 25-375.

An exceptional 19th century eye dazzling, paint decorated Maine dome
top box. The fine surface and condition of this box tells us not
only of its long lifetime, but the care it was given over the years
to have survived so very well. It was made from New England white
pine with dovetail construction. Size: 24 x 12 x11. Inventory number
25-384.

A wonderful hand stitched quilt in patriotic colors. I know there's a
name for this pattern, but I'm sorry I just don't know it. I buy
quilts that project well with great design, color and condition and
this beauty met the criteria. I'm sure it was hardly ever used as
its present condition suggests and the intense ground stitching in
the white areas further advances its appeal. . Size: 70 x 80. c1920.

A small, 19th century open face diorama of a 4 masted white hulled

very pleased to have been invited to this collection with several
items being offered for the first time in this update. Measuring
11.5 x 9 overall, it remains in excellent condition. Inventory

A very rare hollow-cut silhouette with watercolor embellishments of a
very young woman wearing a blue puffy sleeve dress. While at first
glance it appears to have been done by Ezra Wood, the Puffy Sleeve
artist, upon close inspection, there is no convincing evidence
connecting it to Wood. On page 51 of A Loving Likeness, you will
find another portrait by the same unidentified hand of Miss Boynton,
c1830 and like her, this offering rests in its original pressed
brass frame under historic glass with an acid free mounting. Size:
4.75 x 3.75 overall. Inventory number 25-368.

Doris Stauble, 1918-2007. Wiscasset, Maine. Her arrangements are
iconic with collectors of New England antiques and accessories and
while they don't have great age, they have established a place in
collections from coast to coast. Like any artisan, some of her
arrangements are better than others, but take a good look at this
offering and I think you'll agree, this one sets a very high bar. An
early wallpaper box was selected and filled with complimentary
colorful fruits and floral accoutrements. This is truly one of the
finest arrangements we have ever owned. Dimensions: 11 x 10 x 7.5.
