Justus DaLee, 1793-1878,
American, Rochester, NY. DaLee's portraits rank high among
the upper echelon of early American portrait painters in both
quality, execution and detail. His portraits are found in the finest
collections and institutions and are highly prized and sought after
today. This portrait of Fenner King is a fine example of his work
depicting King in his advanced years. It rests in its original red
painted frame under early historic glass and dated 1839. Excellent
overall condition measuring 4.25 x 4.75 overall. An old price tag of
$2100. represents my price in 1999 when I sold it to Bryce and
Audrey Chase. Inventory number 25-262.

A very small 19th century
hollow body rooster weathervane. I've sold many rooster
weathervane in my time in business, but cannot recall ever having
one in this smaller size. It's constructed from sheet copper with an
incredibly true and honest natural color and surface. Dimensions:
14.5 x 12 x 2 on a modern wood stand. Excellent condition with no
repairs. Maker unknown. Inventory number 25-303.

A pair of 19th century
chalk pineapples. Lately pairs of chalk figures are getting
nearly impossible to find. These are in wonderful condition in their
original paint. Some minor paint loss and wear consistent with age
and use, but extremely good overall. Each measures 9.5" tall. c1840.

A 19th century chalkware
squirrel. A fine example in very good condition with minor
wear consistent with age and usage in their original paint. It's
interesting that its tail was painted green, maybe reflecting a very

RARE late 19th century bell
trade sign. Over the years I've seen and sold a fair number
of figural signs, but I have never seen or owned a bell trade sign
before. This is very realistically carved with a fixed clapper. Very
good color and great surface. Price includes an iron hanging

A very eye-appealing early
20th century quarter fan quilt on a black ground. For us,
quilts are all about design and color and this "killer" example
fulfills that criteria. Its chosen colors are graphically pleasing
and jump out at you on a very neutral black background. Excellent
overall condition. Dimensions: 67 x 72. We don't buy many quilts
these days and it takes something very special to get our attention.

An unusual smaller size
double-sided gaming wheel in patriotic colors. When we buy
game wheels, we look for color, surface, design and condition and
this little beauty has us very pleased in all categories.. It
measures just south of 15" in diameter and as you can see, remains
in excellent condition with all of its pins intact. Price includes a
wall mount. c1920. Inventory number 25-285.

The box remains in top condition, it's clean and free of any issues.

sponge decorated pantry box having a "fitted lid". We have
never seen one made with a lid like this. Size: 8.25" in diameter.

A fine 19th century
American OOC portrait of two brothers in very good overall
condition. A slight blemish can be seen to the right of the
younger child's left arm, but no other flaws or repairs are known.
Unfortunately we have no further information on the sitters or the
artist. SIze: 28 x 34 overall in its original lemon gold frame..

design and decoration. Excellent condition. Size: 8.5"tall,

Nice smaller size 19th
century Worcester County decorated dome top document box. The
maker of this box has never been identified as they've always been
known and associated with Worcester County Massachusetts. The
designs on these boxes all have a similar theme and are easily
identifiable. Excellent overall condition with very good color and
surface. The small bale handle on its lid is also original to the

A pleasing paint decorated
set of bed steps. Overall good color, design and surface with wear
to the top of each step as would be expected. We don't recall
ever seeing a decorated set of steps before. Size: 14"T, 20" W.
