Lloyd Thomas,
1910-1990, Camden, Maine. Thomas was a shipwright and a good
one. His father owned an antique shop in which Lloyd found and
enhanced the facades of old sea chests with eagles and ships. Not
only did he carve cased and open-faced dioramas, he also was expert
in carving fish plaques simulating fish from local lakes and
streams. His pieces are in museums and prized in major collections
nationally. This fine relief diorama depicts a clipper ship on the
wind with skillful and accurate details. Signed in two places and
dated 1936. Size: 12 x 10 in a modern frame.

Folk art figure of a

Treasures and
sculptures from bygone sailing years. Dead eyes, as these are
called, were used on early ships for trimming sails. Each is
presented on a modern metal stand for an eye catching visual
display. One is 23 inches tall while the other is an inch taller.
They were made in a variety of sizes, depending on their use, with
these being on the smaller size. Who cannot admire these human-like
facial objects from the 19th century?

Late 19th/early
20th century pocket watch trade sign. Most of these signs are
cast iron, but this version I'm fairly confident to say is cast
zinc. It's not nearly as heavy yet has survived well in weathered
condition. Completely untouched and original with tin faces in
wonderful condition considering so many get battered while in use.
The face of the clock on both sides shows honest wear and
weathering. The name Bunch is common in Pennsylvania and it's quite
possible the sign is from the greater Philadelphia area. Size: 24
inches tall with a 17 inch diameter face.

heartwarming little English portrait which we hope captivates you as
it did us. Size: 5.25 square. Both sitter and artist unknown.

American overmantle OOC portrait of a charming little girl holding a
basket of assorted fruits. She is beautifully posed wearing a
white high waist dress with medium puffy sleeves and red ribbon or
sash. Her ruffled bonnet, blue beaded necklace and red waist band
further complement her attire. She is flanked by two trees with a
landscape background. The work has been professionally relined and
remains in very good to excellent condition. The frame, is of the
period, but may not be original to the work; it consists of a busy
rosette pattern terminating with shell motif corners. Both sitter
and artist are unknown. 37 x 31 overall. She is quite lovely.

A pair of late
19th century cast iron eagles. We're not certain if these

They are both in excellent condition with exceptional surfaces.

price includes custom metal wall brackets for a great visual
display. In our combined 104 years years, neither of us has ever
seen anything to compare with these.

holding apothecary jars. These eagles were mostly seen in larger
city apothecaries and pharmacies and are a rare find today.

19th OOC portrait
of a Swampscott Dory sailboat. Designed by Theo. Brackett
and built by James A. Knolton and F. E. Andrews about 1841. This
portrait was done later in 1904 and signed LL, Ellis. As you can
see, it depicts two men working the boat along with what we assume
is the owner of the boat dressed in a suit and tie. Two very tiny
holes were mended professionally along with a light cleaning. The
original frame measures 26 x 20, and remains in very good condition.
